Rebuilding The Decaying Brickwork Above a Masonry Window Opening

Here’s a look behind the scenes of a recent project:
Our mail goal was to repair / rebuild the decaying brickwork above a masonry window opening. This involved removing 10 courses, 2 deep, of damaged brick, all the way down to the masonry lintel, which was also rebuilt. We added an extra course of brick to the lintel upon rebuild to ensure this wouldn’t happen again.
Once the rebuild was complete, we ground the surrounding mortar joints to a depth of 5/8”, then tuck pointed them with type N mortar. To insure environmentally friendliness, we always prioritize the use a masonry vacuum to minimize dust.
Thank you to everyone involved for making this project a success. We look forward to sharing more updates and projects with you in the future!
