312 Masonry completed the masonry construction for a new Women's Health Group office building in Chicago — building a new 8-inch CMU elevator shaft and stairwell shaft, fully grouted for structural strength, fire resistance and long-term durability.
Project description.
The Women’s Health Group project called for masonry construction of two critical vertical elements in a brand-new office building: the elevator shaft and the stairwell shaft. Both needed to meet structural, fire-code and durability requirements from the ground up — new construction, not a retrofit.
312 Masonry built both shafts using fully grouted 8-inch concrete masonry units (CMU), giving the structure exceptional strength and fire resistance. All work followed project specifications and industry standards for precise alignment, superior workmanship and a solid foundation for the building’s structural system.
Scope of work.
- Constructed a new 8-inch CMU elevator shaft from the ground up.
- Constructed a new 8-inch CMU stairwell shaft alongside it.
- Used fully grouted concrete masonry block for maximum structural strength.
