St. Volodymyr Cathedral — historic masonry restoration.

312 Masonry carried out a historic masonry restoration on St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral (built 1911) in Wicker Park — tuckpointing the original brickwork, rebuilding damaged parapet walls, replacing deteriorated brick, installing new window flashing and sealing the masonry to protect this 1911 landmark from water intrusion.

What we did

Scope of work.

  • Carried out a complete masonry restoration survey of the historic cathedral.
  • Tuckpointed the existing brickwork to historic-restoration standards with matched mortar.
  • Rebuilt damaged parapet walls.
  • Replaced deteriorated and spalled brick throughout the elevation.
  • Installed proper flashing around the windows to shed water.
  • Applied a water-repellent sealer to the masonry surfaces for long-term protection.
  • Performed all work to preserve the original character and integrity of the 1911 building.
